Job Description:
We're looking for a detail-focused Senior Accountant with solid
experience in technical accounting to support the Director of
Finance. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate
financial records, supporting grant compliance, producing financial
reports, and reinforcing internal control procedures.

Responsibilities:
General Ledger & Financial Reporting
Prepare and post all journal entries, including adjusting, closing,
and reversing entries.
Maintain orderly and accurate general ledger records.
Analyze financial data to prepare monthly reports and annual
financial statements.
Banking & Receivables
Reconcile bank and balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
Manage accounts receivable, including tuition invoicing and payment
tracking.
Process and deposit funds in a timely manner; maintain detailed
cash receipt records.
Payroll & Benefits
Reconcile payroll totals with payroll service reports monthly.
Post payroll and benefit entries into the fund accounting
system.
Manage and remit employee retirement contributions on a biweekly
basis.
Fixed Assets & Grants
Maintain fixed asset schedules and ensure audit documentation is
complete.
Oversee grant accounting and ensure compliance with financial
restrictions.
Prepare and submit grant reports and fund requests.
Compliance & Internal Controls
Monitor accounting systems for accuracy and ensure conformity with
GAAP, GASB, and relevant fund accounting standards.
Recommend and implement improvements to internal controls and
financial procedures.
Conduct periodic internal audits and assist with preparation for
annual external audits.
Collaboration & Oversight
Provide support to the Administrative Accounting Assistant for
accurate GL coding of AP and credit card transactions.
Assist with accounts payable and payroll processes while
maintaining segregation of duties.
Support the Director of Finance in developing policies, maintaining
audit relationships, and reviewing publicly submitted financial
information for accuracy.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (required).
Minimum of 5 years of professional accounting experience, ideally
in K-12 education or a nonprofit environment.
Experience with fund accounting.
CPA certification (preferred).
Experience with MIP Fund Accounting software.
Strong knowledge of Excel and accounting database systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and collaborative.
