ABOUT USSanctuary for Families is New York's leading service
provider and advocate for survivors of domestic violence, sex
trafficking and related forms of gender violence. Every year,
Sanctuary empowers thousands of adults and children to move from
fear and abuse to safety and stability, transforming lives through
a comprehensive range of services. We provide a range of
wrap-around services to help survivors rebuild their lives in the
aftermath of abuse, and work to end gender violence through three
key strategies: direct services, outreach and training, and
systems-change advocacy. Our services are available in 12 locations
throughout New York City.POSITION OVERVIEWThe Project Assistant's
primary duties are to support Sanctuary's role in developing and
providing trainings to inform and educate target audiences about
technology-facilitated intimate partner violence. Working under the
Center Technology-Facilitated Abuse Initiative, the Project
Assistant's responsibilities include assistance in managing
training scheduling and coordination; editing and distributing
training materials; research and supportive assistance to develop
and update trainings, and more. This position works out of the
Queens Family Justice. This position is temporary part-time
tentatively through December 2025.RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinates training sessions and conferences on
technology-facilitated intimate partner violence to a wide
audience, including law enforcement personnel, prosecutors, judges
and judicial personnel, and public safety tele-communicators.
- Assists in creation and distribution of training materials,
including informational and supportive material.
- Promotes awareness of technology-facilitated intimate partner
violence trainings through the use of social media, outreach and
collaboration with audiences.
- Supports trainings and initiatives through research, advocacy,
and other supportive roles as needed.
- Engages with and supports survivors of technology-facilitated
intimate partner violence, including but not limited to
coordinating with survivors in organizing survivor listening
sessions, and collaborating with and supporting survivors to inform
and improve training curricula and materials.
- Identifies resources, programming, and other supports for
survivors of technology-facilitated intimate partner violence to
include in training programming and educational materials.
- Participates in task forces and coalitions, including New York
Cyber Abuse Task Force Meetings and related technology-facilitated
abuse advocacy; assists with coordinating trainings and resource
distribution within Task Forces and coalitions.
- Engages in data-gathering and research surrounding
technology-facilitated intimate partner violence to inform training
and educational materials.
- Collaborates both internally within Sanctuary for Families and
externally with grant, funding, and coalition partners.
- Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience;
- Demonstrated commitment to issues of gender equality and/or
gender-based violence;
- Knowledge of or keen interest in technology-facilitated
abuse;
- Basic knowledge of or keen interest in the legal system;
- Proactive, efficient, accurate, and highly organized
self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment; able to
juggle multiple priorities;
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written;
confident public speaker;
- Computer literacy (including MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint,
MS Outlook, Adobe and internet research);
- Experience with office systems (e.g. document management,
filing, etc.);
- High level of integrity and professionalism;
- Fast learner, capacity for hard work;
- Experience or interest in graphic design a plus;Budgeted
Salary: $28.93 - $31.95 per hour Work position is Temporary,
Part-time (standard 21hrs/3days per week); Hourly/Non-ExemptWork
schedule is currently Hybrid; must be able to meet job location
